  • Night Shift

    Night Shift

Role: Production Manager – As a production manager, I oversaw the VFX and Lighting departments (12 student artists total). I lead and managed the teams throughout the transition to working remotely due to Covid.

    Project released: Winter 2020

Night Shift follows a curious and bouncy little girl as she awaits the presence of someone in the midst of the night. As she waits, she is whisked away by an ethereal Moon Woman for a magical night of play and together they dance among the clouds of the night’s sky.

It was wonderful to work with Filipina women co-directors on this project. With the Filipino characters and personal story of being raised by two parents working opposite shifts, this film remains etched in my heart.

    Promotion Live: November 2022 – March 2023

    Client: SunChips

Mechanic: Sweepstakes – During the 2022 Art Basel event, users could vote on their favorite artist via iPads at the live event. The three winners of this contest would design artwork for SunChips advertising and packaging on millions of SunChips bags. After a vote, users had the option to register their information and enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a year’s worth of SunChips snacks. The website championed artists of diverse perspectives, including people of color and women.

“Samie did an amazing job leading the team to a successful launch. She truly handled every curveball, pivot, and what felt like non-stop urgent asks with such grace and had a team player mentality through it all. Without her flexibility, attention to detail, and very clear and constant communication to the team, this website launch would not have happened.”

  • Your Body is a Garden Zine

Your Body is a Garden Zine

    About the Zine

Your Body is a Garden is a body-focused repetitive behavior (BFRB) awareness and charity zine centered around feel good themes of self-love, plants, BFRBs, and the physical body. Proceeds from the zine will go towards the The TLC Foundation for Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors. The zine functioned as my senior honor’s thesis for undergraduate studies.

    About the Process

The project was a labor of love. As the sole moderator, I assumed a number of roles for the zine: project manager, marketer, director, etc. Learning how to make a zine from scratch was a fun and challenging endeavor.
